Kayleigh Anne Norman (England, UK)
The Soi Dog Shelter gets volunteers from all corners of the world. A few weeks ago Kayleigh Norman from the UK, visited Soi Dog for over 2 1/2 weeks. During such a long stay it is inevitable that close bonds are made between volunteers & our dogs. Here's Kayleigh's account of her experience at Soi Dog:

Kayleigh - forming bonds she'll never forget...

"I am on a gap year at the moment before hopefully going to study Veterinary Medicine, which means I have the time to travel and do all animal related things, so when I heard about Soi Dog it was one of those impulsive decisions to just go!

And I am so glad I did. I spent nearly two and a half weeks volunteering and loved every minute. During that time it gave me a chance to form bonds with certain characters and also spend time with the more timid ones.

I would often simply socialise with the animals so they could understand what it is like to be loved.

But it was on my last day a tear was brought to my eye, after spending every morning in the puppy pen trying to approach "Shiver", and him walking away he eventually trusted me and walked up to me sniffing my hand as if to say goodbye...

My experience at Soi Dog is something that will stay in my heart forever I am sure of it, even just making one dog happy because he knows that someone cares was a feeling I shall always remember. Kayleigh. "
